The crazy life

This post is entitled the crazy life because we have been so crazy busy lately!  Sometimes busy is good though.   Here are a few things that have been going on in our crazy life (sorry for the picture overload):

Labor Day:  Since it was a holiday I talked my husband into leaving work early and we headed to Ogden to get some groceries and eat dinner.  Nothing too exciting but I loved hanging with my boys.

Birthday #25:  Yep, I turned 25.  I'm old.  I didn't do much all day but Kolby took me to dinner at Elements that night.  So good.  Kolby's sister watched the baby so we got a little time to ourselves.  Much needed.  Kolby gave me the belgian waffle iron that I asked for.
Morning chill time on mommy's birthday

South Summit volleyball:  On Thursday morning I got a text letting me know that my sister-in-law would be playing volleyball at Mt Crest that night.  So, since Kolby had class, just Hudson and I went to Hyrum to watch Shalese.  It was fun to see her play and to chat with family and old friends.

Utah State vs. Utah:  Friday night my family came up as well as my high school friend Aubrey and we all went to the big football game.  Now, I am normally a Utah fan but since I now live in Logan and Kolby is a student at USU, we had to get decked out in our blue.  It was so worth it too!  What a fun game!  Go Aggies!

Pickleville Playhouse:  Saturday night Kolby and I met up with my family in Bear Lake and we went to Pickleville Playhouse.  If you haven't been, you need to go.  So funny.  We also ate dinner at Cafe Sabor.  You need to go there too.

And finally:  OUR HOUSE!  Yep, we closed on our house and we start building Friday.  I cannot wait.  That's mainly why last week was so busy because we picked out all sorts of colors and designs for our house and then closed on it!  I couldn't be happier!
Our lot
Now here's to another busy (hopefully less crazy) week!

A Date with a Cupcake

Kolby started school this past week.  It's not a huge deal because it's just two night classes a week.  Still, it has thrown a wrench into things.  Having him gone two nights a week is weird.  Hudson and I get even more quality time, just the two of us.  So, we went on a date to get a cupcake.  We shared a smores cupcake.  We ate on the front porch.  It was fantastic.  I love spending time with my little man!

Toddler or Baby?

On the 25th Hudson turned 18 months old.  I know it's cliche to say, but seriously where has the time gone?!  My baby is not so much a baby anymore.  In fact when I call him a baby, Kolby politely tells me that he is no longer a baby but a little boy now and needs to be treated as such.  In my eyes he will always be my baby though.  Sounds corny but I promise when you are a mom these are feelings that you have.  So we went and got him a few 18 month pictures and a few family pictures as well.  Now let me just say, this photo shoot happened in two different sittings because my child would not cooperate.  We finally ended up just taking a bunch of pictures of him while he played with some toys.  He really has developed his own little attitude as of late.  An attitude that is cute and funny sometimes but mostly I could do without.  Anyway, here is a sneak peek of some of the pictures. They were taken by Whimsy Photography.  Enjoy!

Recent Happenings

I hate the randomness that I have when it comes to posting on the blog.  I wish I was better but sadly I am not...anywho....not much is going on in this life here of mine.  Here are a few recent happenings:

With Aunt Candace at Ruby River
-Dinner for my brother's birthday:  So we planned to meet in Ogden for dinner on my brother's 16th birthday.  Well, being the lame person that he is, he ate so much for lunch that he got sick and ended up missing his own birthday dinner.  Hey, even though we missed you brother, Ruby River was still as good as ever!

-Little Chef:  So Hudson is going to be a chef when he grows up.  I just know it.  And hey I'm fine with this as long as he cooks for his fat mom!  He seriously goes and gets pots and pans out of the cupboard and points to the stove so that he can cook.  He loves to watch me cook anything and anywhere (stove, microwave, oven, etc.)  I love this little guy and the joy that he brings to my life through the most simple things!

-A little sun:  With summer winding down (sad) I decided to get Hudson's pool out for him to get in a little more sunshine before there is no more.  So we blew up the pool, got out the toys, and unwrapped a popscicle to enjoy!  We will continue to love summer until the very last moments!
-Girl's Night:  Yesterday we had our monthly-ish friend get together at Jocelyn's super cute house in South Jordan.  I have been friends with these girls since we were kids and six years after graduating we are still hanging out!  I love them all!  The picture below is minus one because Meg is currently living in Kentucky.  We miss her!  Anyway, we ate, laughed, and talked for a few hours.  Like we always say, we seriously always just pick up right where we left off and I love that!  Can't wait to do this next month at Whit's shower for baby girl.

So there ya go, a few days in the life of our family!

Road Trip Part 2

So, as I was saying in post prior, we went on a road trip!  Before leaving Star Valley we hiked the natural geyser there (ok everyone but me hiked because my child was sleeping).  It was nice however to just sit in the car, admire the scenery, and talk to my grandma (she didn't go either).  After that we headed to get some lunch and then we were on our way.  My car was packed to the hills with baby, my brother, my sister, and my mom, plus all of our things!  We made good time getting home (a drive I could do without--nothing interesting to see).  Once to Coalville I cleaned up a little bit and then set off to Park City.  Kolby had meetings in Park City all week and our hotel room was paid for so we decided to spend a few nights there.  We stayed at the Newpark and it was a maz ing!  Loved it!  Our room was gorgeous with a washer/dryer, full kitchen, walk-in glass shower, huge tub, fireplace, and a hot tub on the deck!  I'm not kidding I was in heaven.  I could have lived there and been just fine!

Anyway, throughout the week Hudson and I shopped, swam, ordered pizza with Aunt Cara, and went to lunch with Grandma Lesa and Uncle Carter. We also went to the fair to eat and hang out a few times as well.  On Wednesday night we had a sweet sixteen surprise party for my brother.  Each one of us have had surprise parties on our 16th birthdays so he was no exception.  We had been planning it for a while and it turned out great.  We had a big blow up slide, lots of kids, and yummy food.  Hudson pretty much hung out on the blow up slide the whole time.  That kid is not scared of much and went down without hesitation, all by himself!  It was fun to see my brother having fun and being surprised.  I can't believe he is 16!  My grandparents, aunt, and cousin also came to the party before heading to the airport.  Our trip with them was great as well!

I look ridiculous in this picture but the others are so cute so I had to post it!

On Thursday my cousin brought her kids over to play on the slide with Hudson.  It was so fun to get to visit with her and her little family.  We really need to more often!  Friday our hotel stay came to an end and we headed to Coalville for a few more nights.  The fair parade was Saturday morning and Hudson had a ball.  At first he was into catching the candy and watching but after awhile he thought it was great fun to walk over to the Summit Merc's door and back a million times!  Oh well, at least he enjoyed himself right?!

We spent most of the day at the fair and on Sunday headed back home to Logan.  It was a great week spent with family and friends in beautiful places doing both exciting and relaxing things.  What a great way to wind down the summer!

Road Trip part 1

We went on a road trip!  I love road trips!  Even Mr. Hudson was good on this road trip.  We left on Saturday and headed up to Star Valley WY to my grandparents second home there.  I had been so excited all week I could hardly contain myself.  I grew up going there every summer and I'm glad this summer was no different.  I was also excited because my aunt and cousin from Pennsylvania were going to be there.  Seriously my friends, so excited!  I had not seen my cousin since my wedding, 4 1/2 years ago.  Anyway, after we loaded up our car (and it was loaded let me tell ya), we headed out.  We stopped at McDonald's for lunch and went up through Preston ID over to Montpieler (sp?) ID and then up through Wyoming to Star Valley.  Once we arrived it was the best welcome!  My aunt, mom, and grandparents were the only ones that had made it at that time and when we got out of the car we were surrounded and loved it!  Hudson got so much attention and he was eating it up!  For the rest of the night we chatted, ate, and spent quality time together.  On Sunday we got ready and waited for the rest of the family to get there.  They arrived around lunch time.  I loved getting to see my beautiful cousin after such a long time!  Last time I saw her she was still in high school and now she is a graduate from the University of Delaware.  Crazy!  Anyway, once again we chatted, ate, and spent more quality time together.  Monday came and I was so excited!  We all were.  We were going white water rafting down the Snake River!  Our raft was an 8 man raft plus our guide.  We had a blast going over rapids and pushing each other in.  What a fun time!  I can't wait to go again.  After that we headed back for lunch, some shopping in town, and a few games of Apples to Apples.  Some olympics were thrown in there too.  Kolby had to leave for a meeting in Park City Monday night so I waited and tagged along with my mom, brother, and sister back to Coalville on Tuesday.  More on that in my next post.  All in all, our time spent in beautiful Star Valley was so memorable and I can't wait to go back and create more memories for our little family!
